The Dept of Transportation does a wonderful job of keeping the roads clear but you must always be prepared to travel through the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Always carry chains if you don’t have a 4 wheel drive vehicle. The weather can change suddenly and you need to be prepared. There are “Chain Installers” available along the road in case you need assistance.
There is plenty of snow to enjoy all of Tahoe’s outdoor activities. Sierra at Tahoe recently received 1 new inch of snow with a base of 4-8 feet. There are 48 trails open with the terrain park and half pipe in full operation.
